Static Erratic
Image Description: Photomontage in which Amelia Bande and Rachel Higgins appear to be standing behind a larger-than-life-size reproduction of a mountain, in front of a backdrop of a New Mexico mesa which is impossibly small. The two appear to be floating over the western landscape. A drum kit hovers demurely off to the left side, halfway out of the image frame.
Static Erratic: Amelia Bande & Rachel Higgins
Presented by the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts NY, with support from Human Resources LA
Wednesday, December 9, 2020, 8 – 10 pm EST via Zoom, Free, Registration Required.
On December 9th, Amelia Bande and Rachel Higgins will present a collective physicality made through improvisation, songs, and conversations across digital space.
“Static Erratic is a selection of works made together this year, across various places and displaces. We found ourselves in search of a possible landscape, in a string of travel from Chile to California to New Mexico and back. The joy of these adventures was mixed with survival instincts and escape, as bodies within CDC guidelines for high-risk. Static Erratic searches for materiality in a world that slips away. We experiment with what staying in touch looks like when faraway from friends. Sets, props and filmed material create scenes for connection in a disrupted time, through social uprisings, electoral anxiety, and pandemic lockdowns.”
Very grateful for our time in residence at Tinkledy Springs, in Abiquiu New Mexico, and Human Resources in Los Angeles, with special thanks to EFA Project Space’s virtual hosting.
The event will be ASL interpreted and CART captioned.

NADA FAIR
Starting June 15, 2020, Kristen Lorello Gallery will be featuring Rachel Higgins for week 4 of The New Art Dealers Alliance’s FAIR.
FAIR is a new art fair initiative taking place May 20–June 21, 2020; designed to be entirely online, function cooperatively, and act as a benefit for NADA’s community of galleries and artists. The proceeds from FAIR will directly support 118 NADA Gallery Members and 82 other galleries that have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, totaling 200 galleries around the world.
FAIR offers an alternative profit-sharing model, structured to facilitate mutual support within the art community and provide revenue to each of its participants during a time in which galleries have temporarily closed their physical locations. A percentage from each sale made from FAIR will directly benefit participating galleries and artists. In addition, a percentage of each sale will go towards supporting NADA for their efforts in producing FAIR, their continued work as an organization for art galleries, through this time of crisis and beyond.

NADA House Governors Island
May 2- Aug 4, 2019
KRISTEN LORELLO presents
Rachel Higgins for NADA House
NADA House, the organization’s second off-site exhibition on Governors Island, features 45 artists from NADA Member galleries and non-profits in a new, expanded format across 34 rooms in three historic, turn-of-the-century Colonial Revival houses. The collaborative, public exhibition will be on view every weekend, Friday through Sunday, 11am–5pm from May 2, 2019 to August 4, 2019.
There will be a special opening preview held on Thursday, May 2nd from 1–5pm. The exhibition will be free and open to the public, with monthly programmatic activations and performances.
The second edition of the Governors Island exhibition comes as part of NADA’s expanded commitment to year-round programming. Most recently, NADA held the New York Gallery Open, a new initiative designed to bring visitors, collectors, curators and critics to over 50 art spaces across New York City for public tours, talks, performances, and more.
NADA House is an opportunity for NADA members to stage a group show in an intimate and unusual setting, with only one or two artists on display in each room. NADA House reflects the camaraderie intrinsic to NADA’s mission, and exemplifies the organization’s adaptive approach to finding new models to present work from its community.
Responding to the unique context of Governors Island and the specific character of these houses, many participating artists will present work that speaks to the island’s changing identity over time – from its origins as Lenape land occupied by Native Americans of the Manhattan region to its role in the Revolutionary War, and later from its use by the US Army and Coast Guard to its current state as a site for artistic, scientific, and urban experimentation.

All proceeds go to the humanitarian organization No More Deaths, which works to end death and suffering on the U.S.-Mexico border. In the last decade, thousands of men, women, and children have died in the southern Arizona borderlands. No More Deaths volunteers engage in direct humanitarian intervention, providing food, water and medical aid to migrants and refugees in distress. Donate directly to No More Deaths here.
“With a hardline presidential administration set to take office in 2017, this decades-long humanitarian crisis will only intensify—and the work of No More Deaths is more important than ever,” said Catherine Gaffney, a long-term volunteer with the organization. “This auction will provide crucial support as we step up our efforts to respond to the growing threat to migrant lives.”

Pirate Press is a collaborative publication initiated by Christopher Rivera and Misa Jeffereis. The hybrid zine/artist book functions as a platform for new ideas and creative expression. The team selects art-related professionals working in various media—drawing, photography, poetry/writing, and music—to create a focused project, a new commission. Each issue focuses on a relevant theme in contemporary art, inspecting it from a number of different angles.
On August 29, Pirate Press will launch its third issue, 450 West 41st Street, an ode to the recently evacuated Hunter College MFA building. The issue focuses on the history of the building, as well as the changed landscape of its neighborhood, Hell’s Kitchen/Port Authority. Contributors include: Bill Abdale, Alejandro Almanza, Warren Ashworth, Andrea Blum, Jules Balincourt & Andrea Merx, Joel Carreiro, Emmy Catedral, Cynthia Daignault, Jonathan Elliott, Danyel Ferrari, Nathan Gwynne, Rachel Higgins, Matt Kaelin, Rotem Linial, Seung Min-Lee, Yoshiaki Mochizuki, Irvin Morazan, Filip Noterdaeme, Carol Radsprecher, Juan Sanchez, and Yunyi Yi.
